Telecom Italia, the Poste Italiane and InfoCert will start issuing the new SPID digital ID for businesses and residents in January, the Italian Digital Agency announced. The AGID accredited the three companies earlier this month as the first providers to issue the digital ID. Over 300 online services will be available initially using SPID, including services from six regions, several national agencies such as the tax service and the city of Florence. The aim is for all public services to be available within 24 months.

AGID announced also that the PagoPA electronic payments is also expanding since new specifications were introduced in October. More than 8,500 Italian schools, 19 regions and autonomous provinces and 10 ministries have adopted the system.

In 2016, the agency said its priorities will include the further roll-out of the SPID and PagoPA systems, as well as the continuing digitisation of public sector services. This will include updating Italia Login, its platform for developing digital public services.
